ASSISTAN COACH
VIVIAN CAI
Vivian has been swimming or doing other water activities ever
since she can remember. Now that she is coaching with Dynamo Swim
Club, she enjoys interacting with the swimmers and teaching them
how to try their best to improve technique. Being qualified with
Canadian Red Cross life guarding certifications, Vivian is in
currently in the process of obtaining her Level 1 certification.
Vivian loves to learn new things through coaching or interacting
with new people. She wishes to go into psychology in the future and
obtains much experience working with the club. She is able to speak
3 languages fluently; English, Chinese, and French. In her spare
time, her hobbies are reading, playing the piano, swimming,
running, and other physical activities. For younger swimmers of I
Can Swim/I Can Swim Fast, Vivian promotes fun while practicing and
believes that one can truly work hard at something if enjoying what
one is doing.

I am currently studying at Burnaby North Secondary. I have swum
with Dynamo Swim Club Since I was 11 years old. I have competed in
many competitions ranging from Provincial to International meets. I
hope to help my club the way Lidia helped me and to make a swimming
an enjoyable experience to others.
Assistant Coach
Ada Chan
Ada has been swimming since she was at the age of three years
old and started competitive summer swimming nearly 5 years ago. She
had begun volunteer coaching 2 years ago and now enjoying coaching
with Dynamo Swim Club. Ada has participated in BCSSA Provincials
since 2005 and has won many medals in her region’s regional. She
believes that the best part of coaching is seeing the swimmer’s
improvement and enthusiasm. Through coaching, Ada would also like
to succeed in being a swimmer herself. She is certified up to
Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid. Ada would like to major in
biochemistry genetics in the future. Ada can speak English,
Cantonese and Mandarin. Some of Ada’s hobbies are playing the
clarinet, reading, swimming, and playing basketball. Ada also likes
to meet new people and become friends with them. Ada believes in
the phrase, “Practice Makes Perfect.”

LUCACIU MENZIES
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Have strong communication skills and speak 5 languages
fluently.
Received Masters degree in Physical Training and
Sports.
Currently working on Level 4 & 5 coaching certification
and publishing the 2nd book “ LONG TERM ATHLET
DEVELOPMENT MODEL IN SWIMMING”
Trained Kelsey Lekovic who competed at World
Championship and Olympic Trials and many swimmers who received
scholarship for swimming or choose a career in coaching or
aquatics.
Trained Alexandra Guarascio who won gold, silver & bronze
at National Championships 1997. Alexandra represented Canada at
Sydney Olympics 2000.
Assisted and trained Diana Thompson Ureche who participated
at Barcelona Olympics 1992.
Co-author of Romanian National Swimming Coaches Manual
and Athlete Development Model.
Author of the book “Talent Identification in Swimming”,
published in Canada.
Lidia believes that if you want to make a different in your
life you need to have a meaningful purpose a dream a goal in your
life. Teaching and training athletes to believe in themselves and
guide them to persevere in achieving all their goals in swimming
and life is an iron quality that will make them successful and
happy.
