The only place SUCCESS comes before WORK is in the dictionary!
7 Taylor-Made Tips to be a success in your water WORLD and create your Champion Mindset!
1. Firstly – use your Champion Mindset™ to know that you are a success…
Tell yourself of your brilliance and remember how much fun it is to succeed. Use the language of success, no matter what others around you may tell you. Dream takers only want to keep you down where they feel comfortable keeping you; where they can be better than you. You know you can be and do ANYTHING you want!
2. Decide what it takes to know that you have achieved the success you want…
How will I know when I have achieved?
Is it a feeling, what someone says, what I see when I get there or what I say to myself?
Do this for each step along the journey, that way you have success after success as you work towards your ultimate goal and achieve them in your life in and around the water. Any achievement you decide to go for, you want it to be a success. Give yourself a mental tick for getting things done, big or small. I’m often asked, “What about when I don’t really want to do something, because I feel I have to. Is this a success when I do it?”
Of course! Simply shift the mindset to make these be grudge moments into challenges, rather than have “to’s” We all hated being told, “You have to clean your room!”
Now you have a choice…
Is this action something that will move you towards your ultimate success? If the answer is “yes”, learn what you can from doing it, even if it is hard. This learning works towards ALL your other goals. They are things that contribute to your overall success.
REMEMBER YOUR GOLD MEDAL MOMENTS…
Use your Gold Medal moment to push you through to the finish line. BREATHE and know you can get through. Choose to think “it’s easy, I can do this.”
3. Organize your plan…
Have an overall plan – break it down into steps so it does not seem so daunting. Break down those steps into bite-size pieces and if necessary, break them down again into small achievable 15-30 minute chunks.
Itemize your challenges – plan your success including your celebration.
What’s the first step? When this one happens, the others will follow. What order do things need to get done?
Now stop planning and GO DO IT!
The trap is procrastination – “I’ll start tomorrow…” – make tomorrow NOW! Procrastinating is simply an excuse to tell ourselves how bad we are/what a failure we are because we’ve put it off, again – We all now know that is not true.
Push yourself, but also be kind to yourself – remember you cannot fail, you can only learn. We all feel down at times and that things are just too hard to do. It’s OK to feel this way, for a moment. Then think how much easier and wonderful things could be if you just get started. Think of the success and self confidence you will gain in actually doing and creating what you want in your life.
4. Celebrate your success in your way, no matter how silly it may seem to others.
If others put you down smile to yourself and say “dancing at my desk/in my office at the Pool, or on pool deck, it may seem silly to you and it may look silly to others, but gee it’s FUN!” Laugh with yourself, not at yourself. Enjoy your brilliant moments, no matter how small, and celebrate completing the grudge tasks, too.
Be your own cheer squad! Celebrate in positive, nurturing ways…
Your subconscious always wants to look after you, to protect you – that’s human instinct. So remember to trust yourself. Tell yourself you have the power, so you are great, successful, wonderful, beautiful, phenomenal, amazing. Consciously support yourself and create a brilliant you!
5. Find your Champion support Team – Who is on your side?
Find the people you can work with who will celebrate with you and who are positive about you achieving your goal. Ask them to be positive around you no matter what misapprehensions they may have, and offer your support back to them. Create an environment of positive people around you; choose to dismiss the dream-takers who say “you can’t.” Look in all directions near and far, and remember that includes me, I love hearing about your success!
6. Share your brilliance with others you trust…
Sharing your success and wants puts them out into the world and makes you accountable and responsible for achieving them. To start, share them with loved ones you know will support you. As you get more confident start to share them with the world. You never know who might be out there to help you reach your goal. And when you do…
Be courteous and supportive in your success – thank others who did help.
Be humble, not boasting; be a good winner – praise others, appreciate their support and input into your success.
Be happy to celebrate their success.
7. Success can take time…
It is not a race, even if it seems a marathon! So be patient with yourself. It will take as long as it takes – you decide the pace and stay focussed on it. Work on your success, encourage and reward yourself along the way, appropriately – a mini-chocolate bar instead of the whole box!
And remember this ditty … If celebrating is for me – perseverance is the key!
Keep going, even when the going gets tough – stick with it, because it is something for you that you want to create in your life. And always remember … If you don’t quit – you WILL MAKE IT!
Thank you, all you successful people for sharing your stories with me!
